About the author: Karla Vernon grew up in Adelphi, Maryland and graduated with a B.S. degree in Medical Technology from Medical College of Virginia. She has lived in Fairfax County since 1985. Karla first learned about The American Civil War spy, Antonia Ford, from the exhibit in the Fairfax Museum in 2004. She felt compelled to put into book form the never told before fictional account of Antonia Ford’s life. After one year of research and writing, her first novel, The Spy in Crinoline, was published in April 2006 by Heritage Books, Inc.
